Letter from the Pastor, Fr. Ken Simpson

Dear Parishioner,

I invite you to take the next step. Take the next step in your spiritual life. Take the next step in stewardship. Take the next step in the profoundly simple, memorable, and practical spirituality of pray, serve, give. No matter who we are or where we are on our spiritual journey, there is always a next step to take. I invite each of us to reflect on what is our own next step. Our reflections might go something like this:

Pray – maybe I pray sometimes, when I remember or need something. How about a daily commitment? Maybe I go to Mass most Sundays. How about moving Mass up the list of weekend priorities?

Serve – perhaps I volunteer occasionally (actually it is required of me and I really get more out of it than I give). But it’s so hard to find the time. How about doing one thing that disrupts your schedule?

Give – perhaps I give here and there when it is advantageous or I have a little extra (nobody has that anymore!). Perhaps I can look at my bank account and examine what percentage of my income goes to simply support someone other than myself, my family or my other immediate responsibilities. How about considering the support of your spiritual home?

I invite you to thoughtfully, prayerfully, and peacefully trace the pattern of your prayer, service, and giving, and make a heartfelt commitment to act gratefully and use responsibly the gifts that God has given you.

In particular, at this time I urge you to respond with an annual commitment to parish giving. Your Sunday Giving Commitment (formerly known as the Planned Offering Program or POP) asks you to give out of gratitude to your parish. Consider now what you think you can reasonably give to Saint Clement in the Sunday collections during the next year, and return the enclosed pledge card which explains options for fulfilling that pledge.

The purpose of Saint Clement Parish is to assist you and me in living our lives in the pattern of Jesus. Your commitment to regular giving makes a real difference toward achieving that mission.

How much you can reasonably commit is between you and God. Know that what you give does make a difference.

Gratefully,

Fr. Kenneth Simpson
Pastor
