Mass coordinators are entrusted with coordinating the ministers who serve at a particular liturgy.
The Mass coordinator gains a greater appreciation for the many individual gifts and talents that combine and work together in communal celebration.
Skills Needed
Organization and grace under pressure are the hallmarks of a Mass coordinator. Careful planning goes into a smooth and graceful liturgy, but the coordinator must also be flexible enough to orchestrate additions or changes to the liturgy "on the fly." This may include finding substitutes for scheduled ministers who are ill or for other emergency reasons cannot attend the liturgy; reviewing special rites with the presider, liturgy coordinator, and other ministers; and assisting youth servers. A primary responsibility of the Mass coordinator is to foster a sense of calm and reverence in the sacristy as ministers prepare for Mass.
Time Commitment
Each coordinator is scheduled to serve approximately three times a month.
