Frequently Asked Questions

REGISTRATION AND LOGISTICS
Q. Can I request to be on the same team as my friend/significant other?

A. Write your friend’s name on the appropriate line in the “Team Preferences” area of the registration form.

Q. If I have only a couple of hours to spend or prefer not to go off site, can I still participate?
A. Yes! There is a need for adults to help with set up, clean up, and with children’s service projects throughout the day. Check the appropriate box under “Choose a Way to Help.”

Q. What spiritual elements are a part of Clement Service Day?
A. The day is structured to help participants reflect on what their service means to their faith. There will be an opening prayer service at Saint Clement in the morning, group reflection for each team led by the captains during the service projects, and a Mass at the close of the day.

CHILDREN’S PARTICIPATION
Q. How old do children have to be to participate in Clement Service Day?
A. Children aged kindergarten or older can spend the day at Saint Clement School doing supervised service projects. We regret that we do not have facilities or suitable activities to accommodate children younger than kindergarten age. 7th and 8th graders may leave school and work at nearby sites under teacher supervision. High school students may serve off site with adult teams if one or both parents are on the same team as the student. Please remember that all participants under the age of 18 must also have a parent or guardian volunteering with Clement Service Day.

Q. Will children remain at Saint Clement School for the whole day?
A. Yes. To ensure safety of all children, they cannot be dropped off after 11am or picked up earlier than 4:30pm.

Q. What types of activities will children do on Clement Service Day?
A. Children will complete manageable, age-appropriate projects such as: making greeting cards and placemats for senior citizens at local nursing homes; baking desserts for the Clement Service Day dinner; making table centerpieces for dinner; and making an altar cloth for liturgies.

Q. What are the extra forms to complete for kids?
A. A permission form and emergency information form for each child must be completed and returned in advance to Saint Clement Church, or children will not be permitted to participate. You’ll receive them with your registration form, but you may also download them at www.stclementchurch.org.
