Planning teams prepare the liturgies for both the upper church and lower-level chapel. They meet regularly to prepare the liturgy for Sundays and holy days, and for seasonal planning. These teams are also responsible for the coordination and support of volunteer liturgical ministers.
Our liturgical ministries are listed below. For more information or to volunteer for any of these ministries, e-mail
Flo Merkl-Deutsch or call her at 773-281-0371, ext. *819.
- Liturgical Environment Artists create and arrange seasonal decor that is honest, genuine, and well-crafted.
- Ushers/Greeters welcome the gathering assembly, take up the collection, and distribute bulletins and other materials.
- Eucharistic Ministers are parishioners who assist the priest in distributing Holy Communion to the people.
- Bread Bakers make the eucharist truly the "work of human hands," as the great eucharistic prayer says.
- Altar Servers are often students from Saint Clement School and the Religious Education Program; adults and families also assist at Mass as altar servers.
- Lectors are men and women who proclaim the scriptures at Mass, lead the general intercessions, and read the announcements at Mass.
- Mass Coordinators are entrusted with coordinating the many ministers who assist at a particular liturgy.
- Sacristans prepare the physical objects and elements used in the Mass and other liturgies, assist the presider during the celebration, and when the liturgy is over, clean and put away the objects and vessels that were used.
