Adult Faith Formation

"The goal of Catholic evangelization is to invite a person to believe in Jesus Christ; to enfold the believer in the sacramental, communal life of the Church; and then to enable, inspire, and support a lifetime of full discipleship" (Spreading the Holy Fire, Archdiocese of Chicago, 11).

Bible Study

Each year, the pastor offers two Bible study series – one of which is always on the Gospel for the current year of the lectionary. The sessions are open to all. In January 2007, Fr. Hickey will lead a Bible study on the Gospel of Luke on Tuesday evenings.

Spirituality Courses

During the course of the year, the parish also offers a range of offerings on bridging the gap between spirituality and our daily life. In the past we have offered talks on Ignatian spirituality, the documents of Vatican II, faith and the short stories of Flannery O'Connor, and faith in the marketplace, to name a few.

Catholic Faith Exploration (CaFE)

CaFE (Catholic Faith Exploration) is a series for adult faith formation on a variety of topics related to faith. This year’s theme is Prayer: A Conversation with God. Join us on select Tuesdays in January and April. Each night begins at 6:30pm with a short introduction of the speaker and topic, followed by conversation over supper then the presentation, and concluding with a time for questions and open discussion. All CaFE events will be in the Chapel. Please enter through the receptionist area in the rectory.

The January dates are:

  • January 22 with speaker Ralph Barnett—“My Journey to Everyday Evangelization”
  • January 29 with speaker Fr. Ken Simpson—“Preparing for Lent"

The April dates will be: April 8, 15, 22, and 29. Tentative topics are Prayer and Music, Contemplative Prayer, Praying With the Saints, and Devotional Prayers. Return to this site in the future for updates on the speakers and their dates in April.
