Our Patron, Saint Clement

Clement of Rome, for whom our church is named, was a disciple of Peter and Paul, and third bishop of Rome, serving as pope from about the year 92 to about 101. His Letter to the Corinthians is the earliest example of the bishop of Rome intervening in the affairs of another church community. Clement was martyred in about the year 101, and his feast is celebrated on November 23 each year. Some of the stories of his life and death are illustrated in our church.
