The Human Concerns Commission also includes several ongoing committees and activities.
Social Justice Committee
The Social Justice Committee strives to educate parishioners and the greater community about Catholic Social Teaching. This is done through programs relating to poverty, environmental responsibility, human dignity, just wage, world hunger, and solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the globe, especially those in third-world countries suffering injustices. In the past year the Social Justice Committee has sponsored educational programs on stem-cell research, the war in Iraq, torture, immigration, and affordable housing. This year the committee is sponsoring programs promoting Peace in Advent and Understanding Poverty during Lent.

Respect Life Committee
The Saint Clement Respect Life Committee is committed to promoting and building a more just society with the Human Concerns Commissions consistent with our Catholic beliefs, where every human life is cherished and protected from conception to natural death; offering education, prayer, and service opportunities for parishioners who have a passion for the dignity and sanctity of all human life and a desire to share that beautiful truth in a peaceful and compassionate manner.
Membership is open to all Saint Clement parishioners.
The Respect Life Committee hosts activities throughout the year that are open to all, including talks on life issues, support of pregnancy crisis centers, dissemination of information on programs that foster life and healing such as Project Rachel, sponsorship of a teen information table, and participation in other archdiocesan activities. Members meet monthly.

Communication
The Commission's communication person gathers articles for the Human Concerns Commission page in the parish bulletin, covering issues with a social justice focus. In addition to events at Saint Clement, we also highlight events outside our parish, such as the work of Catholic Relief Services, Catholic Charities, and the Archdiocese of Chicago.
